Breasts sag for a number of reasons. Pregnancy and breastfeeding take their toll. Gravity inevitably plays its part, and losing a lot of weight may also result in droopy breasts. Fortunately, you can restore a perkier appearance with a breast lift like our many patients from Columbia and Jefferson City, MO, and other nearby cities. Dr. John J. Seaberg carefully evaluates each patient’s body and skin type to determine what type of lift will provide the best results.
Dr. Seaberg is one of the top board-certified plastic surgeons in Columbia. He has performed thousands of breast lifts and augmentations in his more than 25 years of practice. Request a consultation online to meet with him personally, or call (573) 443-5500 to schedule an appointment.

Is a Breast Lift Right for Me?
If you’ve always been satisfied with the size of your breasts but want to restore the firm, round, elevated look and feel of younger breasts, breast lift surgery can help. Good breast lift candidates, who visit from Jefferson City and other nearby cities, have pendulous, lax breasts. Their nipples and areolas typically point downward and usually are lower than where the crease of the breast meets the chest wall. Breast lifts may be done on larger breasts, but the results are usually better and longer-lasting with smaller breasts. Women with large, heavy breasts often choose breast reduction surgery combined with a lift. You should also consider postponing a breast lift if you plan to have more children.
Your Breast Lift Procedure
There are multiple techniques used for breast lift surgery, and only an experienced plastic surgeon can determine which approach is right for you. Different incisions are used depending on the degree of ptosis (sagging) of your breasts and Dr. Seaberg’s assessment of your anatomy.
Breast Lift Without Implants
All breast lift techniques share one thing in common: excess skin is removed so that, in closing the incision, the breast is lifted. Larger, heavier breasts that sag more require additional incisions for optimal shape correction. Dr. Seaberg counsels each patient about which of these techniques will provide the best results:
- Inverted-T Lift (also called the Anchor Lift) — This technique requires 3 separate incisions. An initial incision is made around the areola, followed by a vertical incision that runs down the midline of the breast to the inframammary crease – where the breast attaches to the chest wall. Finally a horizontal or crescent-shaped incision underscores the breast, creating an anchor shape. This is by far the most versatile breast lift, as it can reshape even severely overstretched or deflated breasts.
- Crescent Nipple Lift — Women with smaller breasts and mild sagging – especially following pregnancy and breastfeeding – benefit most from this approach. It’s the least invasive of breast lift options and is an attractive option for women who need a small boost with minimal scarring. A small, crescent-shaped flap of skin is removed from above the nipple. It’s also used to reposition one or both nipples.
- Circle Lift (also called the Doughnut Lift) — Two circular incisions are made around the areola, and the doughnut-shaped skin between the incisions is removed. The incisions are then sutured, both lifting and tightening the breast. Many women prefer this lift because the scar traces the border of the areola and is well-concealed.
- Lollipop Lift — This is essentially the same as a circle lift, except with the addition of a vertical incision descending from the areola to the inframammary crease. A lollipop lift is usually needed when the degree of sagging is significant.
Breast Lift With Implants
Breast augmentation and breast lift surgery are among the most popular cosmetic plastic surgery procedures, and combining them is fairly common. Performing the two procedures in a single operation poses additional technical challenges for a plastic surgeon, which is why choosing a plastic surgeon with Dr. Seaberg’s expertise in cosmetic breast surgery is important.
How Much Does a Breast Lift With Implants Cost in Columbia, MO?
The cost for a breast lift with implants generally ranges from $5,400 to $7,900 depending on the complexity of the surgery, type of implants, and other factors.
Breast Lift Recovery
After breast lift surgery, you should be able to return to non-strenuous work and light activity within 4 to 5 days. Strenuous activities should be avoided until cleared by Dr. Seaberg. Because breast lift surgery does not affect the chest muscles, recovery is typically easier than after breast augmentation. For optimal healing, you will need to wear a surgical support bra for the first 3 to 4 weeks.
Your Breast Lift Consultation
Dr. Seaberg is thorough in his consultations, which usually last between 45 and 90 minutes. Besides taking your detailed medical history and conducting a physical examination, Dr. Seaberg will discuss your specific cosmetic goals for the procedure. You will have a chance to review before and after photos of other breast lift patients. When you schedule your surgery with Dr. Seaberg, you will be given detailed pre- and post-operative instructions.Back to Top
