Eyes can communicate your mood as much as a smile or a frown. If you’re like many people, however, droopy and puffy eyelids can mask your true feelings, making you appear constantly tired or unhappy. An attractive option is blepharoplasty, often called eyelid surgery. Columbia plastic surgeon Dr. John J. Seaberg performs cosmetic surgery on both the upper and lower eyelids, giving you a more alert appearance that still looks natural.
Men and women come to Dr. Seaberg for eyelid surgery from Jefferson City and throughout mid-Missouri. If you are considering blepharoplasty, request a consultation online, or call (573) 443-5500 to schedule an appointment.

THANK YOU! There isn't a thing I would change at all about my results! If I knew now that I would be this satisfied I'd pay double.
Am I a Good Candidate for Eyelid Surgery?
Aging is the primary cause of droopy eyelids and puffiness below the eyes – both common reasons to choose eyelid surgery. But the decision isn’t always based on cosmetic improvements. Your eyelids might obstruct your vision. Whether you are seeking cosmetic or functional changes, blepharoplasty is a good option for women and men who are in good overall health. Also, it’s important to understand that eyelid surgery won’t reduce wrinkles around the eyes and only helps improve the appearance of dark circles if they are caused by baggy lower eyelids.
Your Eyelid Surgery Procedure
In upper eyelid surgery, Dr. Seaberg initially draws lines where the incisions will be made to ensure scars will be hidden as much as possible in the skin’s natural folds. After making the incision, he removes excess fat, muscle, and loose skin, and then uses fine sutures to minimize scarring. For the lower eyelid, the incision typically follows the lash line and smile creases. Many patients combine the upper and lower blepharoplasty with either a brow lift or facelift.
Your Eyelid Surgery Consultation
At your consultation, Dr. Seaberg will want to learn about your general medical history. He will pay close attention to your eye health, particularly if you’ve ever had problems with tear production or if you wear contact lenses. The consultation is also a time when Dr. Seaberg learns more about why you want eyelid surgery and what your expectations are for the procedure. The consultation will typically last between 45 and 90 minutes – as long as it takes for Dr. Seaberg to answer all of your questions.Back to Top
